At 31 years old, Courtney Owens
was 310 pounds and grieving the loss of her father who had
passed away with many health problems stemming from life-long
obesity. This brought Owens to a crossroads in her life. She
knew she had to do something. She tried to lose the weight on
her own, but wasn't very successful.
Then, a friend recommended Michael Steelman, M.D.
"I was very skeptical about seeing Dr. Steelman," Owens
explained. "I just kept hearing the words ‘Diet Pills’ in my
head and I was worried."
But after that first appointment, Owens’ mind was changed. She
felt extremely comfortable with Dr. Steelman and his entire
staff. Dr. Steelman put Owens on a metabolic program including
thyroid medication and two daily appetite suppressants. Within
the first month, Owens lost 20 pounds. |

Owens has lost as much as 115
pounds and would like to lose 20 to 30 more. “It really has
not been that difficult,” she said. Her daily diet consists of
lean meat, vegetables, fruit and healthy carbohydrates. And
now, Owens has added exercise into her regimen, which was
something she was truly too heavy to do before seeing Dr.
Steelman.
Owens credits the individual attention given to her at Dr.
Steelman’s office for most of her success. “The individual
attention made a huge difference for me. I didn’t have to
share my story with a large group of people,” she said. And
also she believes the appetite suppressants have been a huge
benefit and helped control her cravings.
When talking to others considering this program her advice is
“Don't wait to do something. It will never get any easier than
it is right now.” |

Linda Wright tried all the weight-loss programs and spent a
small fortune in the process. Yet, after losing a few pounds,
she would always gain the weight right back. She sought
the help of Dr. Michael Steelman and, within six weeks,
Wright lost 42 pounds. The turning point for her, she
said, was losing weight under the supervision of a medical
doctor.
